Having a business is incredibly challenging, especially when it’s time to step it up. There’s moments I think I wish I was just working back in the days of advertising without the weight of a business on my shoulders, receiving that monthly pay check on the same day of the month in the bank and going for Friday pub lunches.

Sometimes it feels like the easy road to go down, but then I stop and think, what would my life be without the flowers, the markets, exploring the gardens and new places, waffling on in blog posts and that feeling when an event is about to start and all that hard work has paid off? There would be a big gap in my heart, that’s for sure, I just can’t see myself doing anything else.

These photos were taken in the rose gardens and conservatory of the Botanic Garden in the Bronx, New York City. It was certainly a day with so much magic and reflection, the day I met a painter by the name of Hazel Murray that I will never forget. So I dedicate this post to her.

‘And above all,
watch with glittering eyes
the whole world around you
because the greatest secrets
are always hidden in the most unlikely places.

Those who don’t believe in magic
will never find it.’

- Roald Dahl
